And I said, 'Well, Dr. Johnson also aid, dear boy, that "He is no wise man that will quit a certainty for an uncertainty.” Stick with the firemen, Montag. Supreme Authority Overrides Character’s Own Beliefs 1984 - “He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to lean what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark mustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won his victory over himself. he loved Big Brother.” -Winston was forced to love Big Brother; the supreme authority of Big Brother transformed Winston into a man who acknowledges Big Brother as the great leader. Fahrenheit 451 - "'What, the Hound?' The captain studied his cards. 'Come off it. It doesn't like or dislike. It just 'functions'. It's like a lesson in ballistics. It has a trajectory we decide on for it. It follows through. It targets itself, and cuts off. It's only copper wire, storage batteries, and electricity.'" - Montag is being chased by the Hound at the end of the book, because he was discovered with books in his house.
Lack of Religion Censorship 1984 Fahrenheit 451 “How many copies of the Bible are left in this country?
