Euphemism Euphemism is a noun that is a polite way of saying something unpleasant. Euphemism is usually used when your intentions are to be polite to others and less offensive. A synonym example of euphemism is delicacy , and a antonym example is vulgarity. Some examples of euphemism can be seen in hospitals, when nurses say, “ put to sleep,” instead of euthanize. I believe I use euphemism when I say “ she passed away,” instead of “she died.”
Fiasco A fiasco is a noun in which a thing is a complete failure, in a absurd or humiliating way. A fiasco is what can be typically seen in what might come out on America’s Funniest Videos. An antonym of fiasco would be benefit, while a synonym would be embarrassment . An example of fiasco would be seen if there was a party and no one came and the clown who was hired to entertain broke his legs and sued. One example of fiasco that I have experienced would be during a soccer game. The fact that I am a soccer player, should mean I know how to kick the ball, however, during the game I missed.
Cacophony Cacophony is a harsh sound or in others words, an annoying sound. A cacophony might be used to describe a certain sound that is highly dislikable to your ears. This can vary from animals, people, and music. A synonym of cacophony is noiseand a antonym is harmony. A perfect real world example of cacophony would be the city traffic in midday. One way I incorporate this in my daily basis is when my mother states that all the foreign music I listen to is a cacophony to her ears.
