  5. V. 1 The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom. We have heard a report from the Lord, And a messenger has been sent among the nations, saying,“Arise, and let us rise up against her for battle”: Obadiah

Vs. 2-4 “Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You shall be greatly despised. 3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; you who say in your heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’ 4 Though you ascend as high as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,” says the Lord. James 4:13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” 16 But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. Revelation 3:17 "You say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked."

Foreign invaders carried off their wealth and cast lots to divide up Jerusalem, but you acted like one of Israel’s enemies. why does god judge?

You should not have gloated over their destruction when they were suffering such calamity. You should not have seized their wealth when they were suffering such calamity. 14 You should not have stood at the crossroads, killing those who tried to escape. You should not have captured the survivors and handed them over in their terrible time of trouble.

Romans 3:9b,10,15-18, 23 “Both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; 10 as it is written, "there is none righteous, not even one... 15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood, 16 Destruction and misery are in their paths, 17 And the path of peace they have not known. 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes. 23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Vs. 17-21 “But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. 18 The house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame; but the house of Esau shall be stubble; they shall kindle them and devour them, and no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau,” for the Lord has spoken. 19 The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, and the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim and the fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead. 20 And the captives of this host of the children of Israel shall possess the land of the Canaanites as far as Zarephath. The captives of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad shall possess the cities of the South. 21 Then saviors shall come to Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s.

  40. Look for deliverance on Mount Zion how should we respond? John 18:11 “Shall I not drink the cup that the father has given me?”
