  2. By the end of this lesson you will be able to :- 1 - Know what Alsobo’ (( السبوع is and where it comes from. 2 - Tell what the Egyptians usually do on this celebration. 3 – Compare it to any similar procedures in your America. 4 – sing the traditional song of السبوع in Egypt.

  3. السبوع هو احتفال يقيمه المصريون للمولود بعد سبعة أيام (أسبوع) من مولده. ويرى البعض أن هذا الاحتفال يعود إلى عهد الفراعنة ولكن لا توجد دراسات تؤكد بداية هذا الاحتفال. فقد وجدت بعض الرسومات الجدارية من عصر الدولة الحديثة الفرعونية تتشابه مع احتفالية السبوع.

  4. AlSobo’ السبوعis a celebration hosted by the Egyptians for the newborn child after seven days (a week) of his/her birth. Some argue that this celebration dates back to the time of the pharaohs, but there are no studies confirming the beginning of this celebration. Egyptologists have found some wall paintings from the era of the modern state similar to this celebration.

  5. في بداية السبوع يوضع الطفل المولود داخل (غربال) وهو عبارة عن صينية قعرها عبارة عن شبكة ويوضع على طاولة عالية وبجواره إبريق لو كان المولود ذكرا أو قلة لو كان المولود أنثى. Abreek أبريق قلةQuola

  6. ثم يحمل الغربال بالطفل ويوضع على الأرض ويبدأ ما يسمى ب "دق الهون" وهو عبارة عن صوت يصدر نتيجة دق الهون المعدني وتقوم به غالبا جدة المولود أو إحدى السيدات الكبيرات في السن وتردد وهي تدق هذا الهون عبارات بها وصايا للمولود كأن يكون مطيعا لوالديه أو غيره.ثم تمر الام من فوق الطفل سبع مرات تردد خلالها السيدة التي كانت تدق الهون عبارات البسملة.   7. وبعد ذلك يوضع الغربال بالطفل مرة أخرى فوق الطاولة ويحمل الاطفال والكبار شموع بيضاء مشتعلة ويطوفون بالطاولة مرددين الأناشيد المشهورة للسبوع ثم يتم توزيع الحلوى على الأطفال

  9. This is often done by the baby’s grandma or one of the older women while repeating commandments for the baby, such as being obedient to his parents or others..!!

  10. then the mother goes through over the child seven times while the old woman repeating words Basmalah (In the name of Allah).

  11. After that, the sieve and the child is placed again on the table and children and adults hold white burning candles touring the table and chanting songs of famous Sobo’ then sweets is distributed to the children.
