Della Agbeke Della is an extremely gifted writer, and when she first started learning about rhetorical strategies, Della naturally built these strategies into her writing. She has a great perspective of the school community, and she has used her insight and writing ability to capture the community in the yearbook over the last three years. Della is the type of student that teachers look forward to working with because they know they will always get her best effort, and her best effort is always exceptional. - Karen Wagner
Monica Agsam • Monica has been a stellar student here at Eaglecrest. Our school would be the better with many more of her. Academically she has always carried a big load and has been able to keep a balanced lifestyle. While many look for the minimum to do, Monica has always set the bar far higher. As a junior, she gained national recognition for her writing, business and fashion merchandising skills. As a senior, she has been coordinating some of DECA’s largest events Eaglecrest has implemented to date. Her passion, drive and excellence are complemented by her winsome and easy going temperament. Her leadership skills continue to blossom, and will be a great asset for her in the future. • - Dave Haar
Christina Alexander I first met Christina when she approached me in December of 2009. She asked if she could please enroll in my Honors LA 9 class second semester because she wanted more of a challenge. Of course, I said yes, and within weeks, she became one of the strongest if not the strongest student in the class. Since then, I’ve watched Christina become an even more remarkable young woman. She is consistently working on assignments for classes or projects for clubs. Her time is devoted to bettering herself, as well as others. Her passion for others is seen in her work with clubs like Friends First. I watched her take an ideal and work it into a viable curriculum from which other students learn. She has strong interpersonal relationship skills and is welcoming to peers and adults. Besides volunteering hours of her time to others, she excels in academics, like Advanced Placement US History and Advanced Placement English Language and Composition. Christina has a natural intelligence, a high level of commitment, and the initiative to take on new challenges. - Heather Fraase
Kayla Algrim Beyond the daily hot chocolate and random Disney trivia comments, Kayla has had so much to offer on a variety of levels in many different classes. Often quiet, Kayla will surprise classmates with a well timed and well thought out argument during class discussions. She will also surprise teachers with insightful comments about literature, rhetoric, art, and photography. Kayla has been instrumental in turning around the photography in the school’s yearbook, helping to teach her peers how to properly use DSLR cameras. She has not only made a difference for herself at Eaglecrest—she has made a difference for her peers, too. - Karen Wagner
Beryl Allee Once I first saw one of Beryl’s sketches, I knew that these were not just the doodlings of boredom, but a serious art student that delves masterfully into philosophy, history, rhetoric, and literature. Her potential for her medium is limitless. Not only was she able to make connections to almost any topic we discussed in class, she also has the ability to eloquently write about them as well. I found it commonplace for Beryl to educate the rest of her classmates about anything from Picasso to social media. I know she will find success in any field she chooses, but the literary world will absolutely be worse off if she declines its membership. She will be missed. - John Madden
Calvin Anderson • Calvin carries a positive outlook into almost any situation he encounters. His sense of personal excellence is evident. I have had the privilege of having Calvin in class all four years, and knew from early on his abilities were great. Calvin will take his high school learning to distinguished accomplishments in both his university days as well as his career. His peers and teachers find him refreshing. Eaglecrest has been blessed with another standout student. • - Dave Haar
Mitchell Atencio Mitchell is intelligent, hardworking, and unshakably pleasant. He clearly cares deeply about his own academic and personal growth – an invaluable characteristic that has prepared him well for his very bright future. He is a fixture in class discussions, not only making astute observations, but he is also known for asking important questions that helps move the class forward productively. His engagement in the material is phenomenal – what a role model for his peers! Mitchell’s work is consistently above and beyond the requirements, a testament to how much he values learning. Aside from his academic successes, Mitchell’s personal qualities are fantastic. He is both courteous and humorous, and his positive outlook and easygoing attitude belie the great efforts that I know go into his endeavors. Mitchell has a lot of quiet charisma, and this, too, makes him a great example for others. - Kristin Earley
Morgan Barbary “I found it”, she exclaimed, “the needle in the haystack I found it”! Morgan has a knack for unraveling the details that others never enjoy! Morgan is a creative risk taker, puzzling her ideas into exciting images, at the finish of each one she is off to another unexplored artistic terrain. Dalton Bobek • Dalton is a student with limitless potential. Quietly confident, he doesn’t call attention to himself – but his outstanding academic work cannot escape notice. Brilliant, mature, and humble, Dalton has a very bright future ahead of him. • - Eric Anderson
India Bonner • India Bonner is a wonderful student and, even more importantly, a wonderful human being. India is incredibly clever and insightful, capable of achieving any academic goal she sets for herself. She reads with true insight and understanding, and she writes with rare creativity and conviction. Beyond her “grade A” academic abilities, India is a kind and thoughtful young person, the sort of caring and compassionate person who willingly puts other people’s needs before her own. India makes the world a better place just by being herself and remaining true to her convictions. She’s a person I’m proud to know, and I can’t wait to see what she will accomplish in the future. Congratulations, India! • - Paul Kemp
Thomas Buckley TJ is an upstanding young man and a dedicated student. I first met him as a wide-eyed freshman. He had to learn to be an AP student, but was up to the task. As he plowed through his high school experience, I was able to watch a young student grow into a mature bright man. T.J. has great plans for college and recently asked me, "Can I double major in Law and medicine?" I first thought of course not, but then, why not? TJ has great potential and a bright future. - Sparky Adair
Kirsten Cavanah Kirsten’s presence in class was great simply because of her infectious laugh. She could make any lesson in AP Lang interesting because of the unusual perspective she might bring or the amusing laughter she would erupt in when she found the humor or satire in what we were reading. Kirsten’s positive attitude is found in everything she does, and because of her attitude she has been able to come further than I think she even imagined. - Karen Wagner
Olagappan Chidambaram The only freshman to take AP Statistics at EHS since its inception, Olagappan is at ease with concepts that many older students struggle with. Confident, friendly, gifted, and still just a sophomore, Olagappan will probably leave Eaglecrest as the most decorated AP scholar in our history! - Eric Anderson
Callahan Clarke I’ve known Callie for four years, and what strikes me most about her may not be what one would consider typical A.P. Scholar trademarks. Of course, she is intelligent, articulate, and hard working, but what I’ve found most prevalent is her exuberant personality, her resiliency to bounce back from difficult situations, and her devotion to her friends. Callie is so passionate about everything she does, whether it is a routine for dance or a paper for English. Countless times, she has burst into my classroom to tell me the latest in the Life and Times of Callahan Clarke, and it makes me so happy to know that she loves life without taking anything for granted. This can be difficult, especially in the throes of teenage dramas. Fortunately, Callie is remarkably resilient and can recover quickly from set backs. One can see her move from being upset, to evaluating the situation, to making the right decision in a short time span. This contributes greatly to her success. Finally, Callie is remarkable in taking herself out of the equation. So often are teenagers focused on “me, me, me!” Callie, on the other hand, has always shown genuine concern for others and goes out of her way to help them and support them. Callie has always extended herself beyond normal protocol, inside and outside of school. She has a gentleness of character, a seriousness of purpose, and an emotional maturity above most other students with whom I have worked. She is honest; I would trust her with any task. - Heather Fraase
Samantha Cripe “Good things come in small packages”; that is what comes to mind when I think of Sam Cripe. She is an amazing young woman with a very quiet yet determined disposition that I initially failed to recognize. Sam entered German with me at level two and is currently in my German 4/AP class, where she continues to demonstrate an interest for learning the language and culture that is impressive. Being the perfectionist that she is, Sam strives to learn to communicate effectively and increase her knowledge and understanding of the culture, culminating in a study abroad experience that I believe will enrich her life tremendously. Teaching Sam has encouraged me to become a better educator and it is students like her who help us grow in our profession. Alles Gute, Sam! Bleib so, wie du bist! - Kerstin Daum-Schultz
Jacob Davis Jacob has a gift for statistics, and he provides a unique spark to class discussions because of his outgoing nature. Confident, intelligent, and considerate, Jacob ultimately is going to pursue a career that he loves and truly excel at it. - Jacob Davis
Ryan Davis • Ryan is a student who questions traditions and why government does things. This is a quality that will make him an educated citizen and voter. His ability to see the big picture is great and he makes connections that are above and beyond what is expected. Ryan has a sense of humor that is admired by his peers. His questions promoted others to think outside the box, which made the classroom more fun for all. • - Heather Nelsen
Jordan Durham Jordan Durham is a man of few words, but intense thoughts and determined action. Jordan loves to solve problems, a characteristic that I see in many students who go on to be successful engineers. When presented with a problem that needs repair, Jordan’s creativity kicks in and, before long, a solution is at hand. Jordan’s ability to see the connections between math, science, and engineering design are incredible. This is a characteristic a person needs to be successful in the engineering world, and yet one which many students do not possess. His ability to quickly learn new methods and techniques is outstanding. If he does not know how to complete a task, he is driven to learn how it can be done. Jordan is a very responsible, honest, and diligent young man. I firmly believe Jordan’s dedication and drive will lead him to a lucrative career in engineering. - Ross Ericson
Itua Ehizuelen I am honored that Paul has asked me to write his recommendation for the AP scholar breakfast. Paul is one of the most goal oriented students I have had the opportunity to teach. His goal is to become a physician and he is making all the right decisions to achieve this goal. This young man has a very bright future that will benefit all of society. - Jason Gould
Tyberius Enders After meeting him for the first time, a teacher will never forget Tyberius. Earnest and hardworking, Ty is the kind of student who can direct the conversation in an AP class, can help those around him achieve at higher levels, and can impress a teacher with his thirst to know more about a subject at a deeper level. I will never forget our casual conversations about a variety of things in American history, and I was always amazed at his superior level of thought and uncanny ability to communicate intelligently in his writing. - Angela Boatright
Jim Feng I remember a car commercial a long time ago: Dr. Porsche was absorbed with his invention- the high quality Porsche- and kept staring at it. You could see him analyzing how it could be better, better, better, always better. Subconsciously, Jim does the same thing in his life. He will look for ways to be a better person and student every day. And, the odd thing is, he continues to outdo himself. Despite the schedule he keeps, he has been able to balance academic excellence, social camaraderie, and familial commitments. He has made Eaglecrest proud in many ways in his first three years here. The sky may be the limit for Mr. Feng. - Dave Haar
Zackery Frazier • Zack has the ability to connect with all those around him especially in the classroom. Whether it was the most intelligent of the class or with the student that didn't fit in socially or academically, he sought out different perspectives and wanted all to feel that they fit in. He has a truly great wit, humor, and intelligence about him that is uncommon. I could joke with him and throw out odd ideas that he would often smile at even if it didn’t relate to the topic of study. I am happy to see this sense of humor has continued and developed since his sophomore year. When you couple his intelligence and humor there is nothing that can hinder Zack’s ability to accomplish his goals and dreams. As Mark Twain once said, “Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing”. Never forget that a sense of humor will get you through the most difficult situations! • - Greg Watts
Rochelle Gurevich Over the past three years, I have been able to get to know Rochelle—first in Honors American Literature, and then the next year even more in AP English Language. I have never known anyone to be as dedicated to her studies as Rochelle. She immediately impressed me with her drive to improve herself and her understanding of whatever she is learning. Although quiet in the classroom, I could often tell how much she was taking in and what she was thinking from her various expressions. Even if she might not share it with the class, her insights to her studies were exceptional. - Karen Wagner
Sendy Ha I am honored that Sendy has asked me to write her recommendation for the AP scholar breakfast. Sendy is one of the smartest students I have been lucky enough to teach. She has a natural gift for mathematics and a super personality to match it. We are lucky to have Sendy as a student at Eaglecrest. - Jason Gould
Brittany Handler - Edith Rojas
William Harvey I have not had the pleasure to be a classroom teacher of William, but I have had the blessing to be his cross country and track coach. It is refreshing to see a young man that is willing and wanting to put the team first and individual accomplishments second. I am also amazed at the dedication of this young man. It is not often that you see a high school kid showing up to school at 7am everyday all summer long. Sowing up because he wants to be the best he can be so that he can make others the best they can be. - Jason Jensen
David Hedke David has the ability to recognize the impact and scope of any major issue and quickly articulate it to his peers. He really understands big picture issue, a rarity for his age group. Among his many talents, David is a fantastic critical reader, he understands the rhetorical situation, and he knows how to reach his intended audience with his fantastic writing ability. He brings quite a bit to the table, and in a class like AP Lang where we all learn from each other, he was an asset. His potential is limitless, and he will be missed - John Madden
Kellen Iverson Kellen is a quiet student who nevertheless radiates a well-earned academic confidence. Reserved but intellectually dominant, Kellen has the potential for unbounded academic success in his future. - Eric Anderson
Parker Jenkins Parker Jenkins is one of the most creative and entertaining students I have ever worked with. When a teacher is presented with an opportunity to work with a student who has Parker’s creativity, his technical ability and his outgoing personality, the outcomes are limitless. From airfoils and wings for RC cars to floor plans of unique and modern houses, he has the ability to immerse himself in his studies and come out with a hit. - Ross Ericson
Holly Johnson Hard working and open-minded, Holly is the epitome of what a student should be. She sets the bar high for herself and then works hard to achieve her lofty goals. Holly isn’t intimidated by a challenge and always strives to meet that challenge with a smile on her face. Holly hasn’t limited herself to success in only one field, finding success in a wide range of AP subjects as well as extra-curricular activities. In AP Calculus AB, she has consistently made strides towards being a better mathematician and it has been such a pleasure to have worked with her for the past two years. - David Frantom
Kayla Kaas Kayla has been a dedicated student since day one of German 2 when I first met her. Her quiet disposition left me guessing as to what her contributions would be, but I soon discovered a determination in her that will guarantee her success, no matter where she goes. She approaches any task given to her with dedication and attention to detail, a quality found and treasured in the Germanic culture and actively practiced by her. Her poise and sophistication are an asset to the classroom, and she displays both even when she is not well and feeling terrible. It is evident that Kayla enjoys a challenge, and I believe that my good fortune of having her as a student has helped me become a better teacher. I know she will continue to pursue her goals with the same diligence and dedication she demonstrated in high school. Viel Glück, Kayla!! - Kerstin Daum-Schultz
Carryn Kennedy I’ve had the pleasure of teaching/directing Carryn Kennedy for all four years of her high school career at Eaglecrest. Carryn’s passion, motivation and intuition toward music and performing are the characteristics that set her apart from most high school choral students. Her commitment and positive influence have always been extraordinarily apparent from the moment I began teaching her. Most of all Carryn’s voice is Carryn is one of eight EHS students that were selected for the 2012 Colorado All-State Choir. This is a huge accomplishment and testament to her commitment and love for singing and incredible musicianship. - Julie Williams

With her thoughtfulness, dedication, and ambition, I am absolutely certain that Karen will continue to dazzle us for many years to come! - Gayle Hume

He now balances his academic endeavors with a community conscious, fun-filled, colorful personality. Jacob Meacham Jacob is quite possibly one of the finest students I have had the fortune to encounter in eleven years of teaching. He is simply brilliant in many areas of academia, but most importantly the rhetoric situation, critical reading, argumentative writing, and the art of persuasion. Students learned from him as he was able to communicate in very specific language that not only clarified, bit persuaded. He can achieve anything that he puts his brilliant mind to, and I know that many of us wait in anticipation to see what he accomplishes. He is the best of what Eaglecrest has to offer; he will most certainly be missed - John Madden
William Melendez Every year I begin all of my classes by telling the students that it is time for them to take the leap from learning for the sake of earning points to learning for the sake of mastery and the implicit reward that comes through attaining knowledge. I know a student has made that leap when he shares how he has started to think in psychological terms or to see learning not as a chore, but rather as an incredible, though at times challenging, gift. I became aware that Will Melendez was already at a stage of learning for mastery when he stopped me in the library to ask me this profound question: "Is the way a person walks a product of nature or nurture?" Now maybe this isn't the most pressing question in today's psychology labs, but the fact that he was thinking about the nature or nurture question as he observed a behavior during his passing period demonstrated he was thinking beyond the parameters of an assignment or worksheet and applying his psychology knowledge to the real world. When I asked Will what he enjoyed about his AP experiences here at Eaglecrest, he said that AP classes have made learning interesting, engaging, and applicable to the real world. What I say to him, and to all of you, is that Will is the one who has made learning interesting, engaging, and applicable to the real world by pushing his brain beyond memorizing facts and filling out notes to a place of actively questioning and seeking more knowledge. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the mark of a true AP scholar. - Stephanie Chamberlain
Mallory Montogomery Mallory Montgomery is an insightful young woman who looks beyond the printed page to the deeper meaning of an author’s words. She often challenges me with books to read and questions to answer. As a freshman she was quiet and unassuming, blossoming over the years into a voracious reader with a thirst for knowledge. Mallory’s intelligence is tempered with an unexpectedly dry sense of humor, making her one of those students who is truly a pleasure to teach. - James Dosky
Jessica Ness Jessica is a naturally gifted in writing and reading, and science and technology. A very unusual for combination, but if you know Jessica, it makes perfect sense. It made her successful in AP Language, as she was able to apply her understanding of rhetorical strategies to her own writing to enhance her point—a strategy she has used in other areas, including yearbook and her Sci-Tech diploma. This year, Jessica’s logical ways have also helped her lead the yearbook staff and make her a key component in the success of the program. - Karen Wagner
Erin O’Donnell Erin O’Donnell challenges herself, and in the classroom, her work is a model for other students. Ask her about reaction mechanisms sometime. Her independence as a learner makes her a tremendous student to work with . Erin can focus on exactly what she needs to learn and improve. Few students in my career can match her in their clarity of thought. - John Fennell
Emma Olson In the distance the symphonic repetition of a drum filled the air. The sound created the rhythm of certainty while providing the will to move mountains. Emma is driven by the beat of a far-away drum; it works in tandem with her heart. Emma puts her heart into everything she does, never straying from her course. She is the one who understands that there are no finite destinations; it is the journey of aspiring to be better and to grow that manifests the cadence in our lives. She wears the hats of an athlete, a scholar, and an artist. Emma is a gifted spirit; a strength dwells inside of her that will inspire and teach others someday! With all my heart Emma, Hugs! - Lisa Adams

From a reserved almost shy sophomore, she has learned how to assert herself as a leader and will undoubtedly continue in this way throughout her life. She has been an ideal student, one that EHS will surely miss. Keep in touch! - Jason Mabrey
Alexander Ovick Quiet but intense, intelligent but not overbearing, passionate but not outspoken; these all describe AJ’s potential. In AP Lang, he would sit quietly during lecture, but during group work his peers took notice of his thoughtful commentary, interesting analogies, and above all, the correct answer. He knows what it means to be successful in this world, and each day he inches closer to his full potential. Having a student in AP Lang like AJ is an absolute necessity. He proves that you can work at a college level in many classes, and have the maturity to handle all the obstacles life throws at you. He will most certainly be missed. - John Madden
