FACILITIES MANAGEMENT ENVIRONMENTAL & ENERGY IMPROVEMENTS ConCom (Continuous Commissioning) • Flowers building, ‘Night Set-Back’ – delivered 239 tCO2 savings / year. • Faculty building, ‘Weekend Set-Back’ – delivered60 tCO2 savings / year • SAF building, AHU ‘Set-Backs’ - initial air readings underway. • SAF, transformer voltage reduction – savings being assessed • Commonwealth building, AHU ‘Set-Backs’ – desk-top report of operational times & fan ratings completed, ConCom to review with FM team & academic community, identify and initiate opportunities. • Obtained Carbon Trust matched funding to support ConCom -£38,765

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT ENVIRONMENTAL & ENERGY IMPROVEMENTS Lighting • Faculty building, LED lights installed on ramp and in secure bike store – delivered 26.3 tCO2 savings / year. • Sherfield building, LED lights installed in level 2 main concourse – delivered 6.3 tCO2 savings / year. • Sherfield building, LED lights extension to ground floor concourse – programmed for 26th / 27th June expected to deliver 11.5 tCO2 savings / year. • All lighting works, are now being challenged to demonstrate carbon savings, projects in development include: Skempton stairwells, RSM mezzanine corridors, Elec Eng workshops. • ConCom survey of existing lighting on SK Campus, to commence 1st July, will establish strategy for installing more efficient lighting and introducing controls.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT ENVIRONMENTAL & ENERGY IMPROVEMENTS Other inititatives • Silwood transformers, ‘Power Perfector ’ installation, controlling operational voltage – delivered 32 tCO2 savings / year. • RSM & Bessemer, office ‘Hot Water Boilers’, programmed to occupied office hours only – delivered10 tCO2 savings / year • Food recycling composter – delivered166 tCO2 savings / year • Lagging & insulation works – delivered55 tCO2 savings / year • Silwood buildings ‘Cavity Wall Insulation’ – works due to start 2nd July, expected to deliver, 75 tCO2 savings / year. • Steam trap remedial works, survey identified improvements – expected to deliver, 491 tCO2 savings / year.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT ENVIRONMENTAL & ENERGY IMPROVEMENTS Opportuities under review • ETHOS ‘waste to heat’ , convert, 550 tonnes of waste to heat / steam on site – expected to realise 450 tCO2 savings / year. • Plant Replacement : installation of new chillers, efficient lifts & air conditioning units – potential savings under assessment. • Photovoltaic's (PV): Discussions with Inside2Outside regarding OPV Membrane, potential applications and Solar Century identifying potential roof locations for systems on site for PV panels – potential savings and viability to be assessed. • CHP operation - initial discussions regarding more efficient operation & exploring with Kiwi Power potential income from the ‘Grid’. • Bike & Electric car provision on SK campus – initial operational desk-top report completed, ConCom Team commencing review with FM team / academic community, identify & initiate opportunities.
