Narratives of Healing With keynote address by James Loney Wilfrid Laurier University, Thursday March 3rd and Friday March 4th Thursday Opening & Public Lecture Maureen Forester Recital Hall Narratives of Violence James Loney James Loney is a peace activist and writer living in Toronto. He was kidnapped by Iraqi insurgents in 2005 while leading a Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) delegation in Baghdad. He has served on CPT violence reduction teams in Iraq, the West Bank and First Nations communities in Canada, and was CPT's Canada program coordinator from 2004 to 2007. He was a founding member of the Toronto Catholic Worker where he lived in community with formerly homeless people for over ten years. His memoir about his experience in Iraq is being published by Knopf in April. Senate and Board Chambers Friday Conference Sessions will engage issues of violence and healing across cultural and religious contexts, appearing as narratives in film, literature, music and education.
