Contents of the program • Presentation of information in a scientific environment • Introduction to Web 2.0 technologies • Elementary statistics and informetrics • Database designing using WinIsis, GenIsis and Weblis • Citation analysis and information retrieval • Website designing using html, xml • Building digital libraries using Greenstone software • Bibliography: thesaurus, indexing and ISBDs ITP-STIMULATE 6
Weak points and how to improve program • Inadequate communication: There was a communication gap between the coordination office and participants • Course materials with missing pages and unreadable printouts should be checked and avoided in future ITP-STIMULATE 6
Strong Points • Lecturers were knowledgeable in their respective areas of expertise • The training was highly practical to suite the connotation ‘An Active Training Environment’ • Selection of participants from varying background and countries enhanced social, cultural and professional interaction ITP-STIMULATE 6
Best components • Elementary statistics for effective library and information management is vital to all professionals • Information infrastructure development: -using CDS/ISIS software package, (WINISIS, GENISIS and WEBLIS) was well delivered and evaluated -Building digital libraries using Greenstone ITP-STIMULATE 6
Recommendations to my Institution • Continuous training of staff to match the current trends in library and information management techniques • Adopt new technologies in management of information resources using the available open source software ITP-STIMULATE 6
