  2. Physical features • Small ears • White furry coat • Huge bodies • Black skin • Long head, nose and teeth • Razor like claws • As tall as 10 feet • Weighs more than 800 pounds

  3. Lifespan • Live 15-18 years in the wild • Endangered because of global warming and melting snow and ice

  4. Habitat • The frozen Arctic and Antarctic • Ocean and ice • Live in a den or hole in the ice

  5. Climate • Dark, dreary winters • - 94 degrees F • Strong howling winds • Sun shines all day and night in summer

  6. Landforms • Icebergs • Frozen ocean at North Pole surrounded by land

  7. Food • Omnivore • Eats plants, berries, fish and meat • Hunt for food

  8. Preys and Predator • Prey of other polar bears and humans • Predator to seals, snow geese, belugas, voles and oxen • Polar bears are the largest predator in the world

  9. Behavior • Strong swimmers • Graceful • Athletic • Playful • Like to wrestle to get strong

  10. Reproduction • In the winter, the female gives birth to 1 or 2 cubs • The cubs see daylight for the first time in spring when they break through the ice and leave the den

  14. Other Interesting facts • Polar bears doggy paddle with their large paws • Polar bears do not chew their food, but tear off large chunks to swallow whole • Polar bears can carry more than 200 pounds of foods in their bellies.
