  2. HISTORIA • El término orégano deriva de dos vocablos griegos, oros y ganos, que juntos significan “ornamento de las montañas”.

Descripción • Su sabor es cálido, algo picante y muy aromático. • Es una planta perenne que alcanza los tres palmos de altura, sus tallos son erectos, algunas veces estirados sobre el suelo, de color verde oscuro salpicado de tonalidades rojizas. • Las hojas son ovales, puntiagudas, de color verde claro, tienen un sabor como de pimienta, son algo rudas y amargas. • Sus flores están situadas en el extremo terminal de la planta, floreciendo entre el mes de julio y septiembre.
