Tower Hamlets The school has been educating some of London's most disadvantaged families for 160 years Six out of 10 pupils are eligible for free school meals 100+ Statements of SEND 70% EAL 30% white British IB Diploma Programme in 6th Form

Norm Referencing? • Threat to the concept of meritocracy • Single award • Disenfranchisement • Ofsted cannot judge the effectiveness of schools and academies using existing progress measures. • Engenders endemic hopelessness

OFQUAL email 4th Sept UMS conversion does not change from one examination series to another. OFQUAL email 5th Sept it's important to understand the 'aggregation of marginal gains

How do we prepare Year 11 students this year? • Will grade boundaries rise again? • How can we make accurate predictions? • How do we support students and teachers • Hw do we get parents on board?
What next? • Legal challenge • Don’t give up – work together to support all our schools particularly those that are most vulnerable • Sorting out pathways for young people affected • Measuring progress – how? • Ofsted Inspections – what’s the story?
Finally • This is a battle we must win • If we don’t this government will do exactly what they like and its young people who will be caught in the middle • If Gove level become a reality it is the poor and disenfranchised who will suffer
