Forest research project ,Tree Breeding To increase wood production, to study on poplar and fast growing forest tree species, poplar institutes was established at İzmit in 1967 Poplar Wood Production reached 3 million m3 in 2000, while it was 300 thousand m3 in 1950. There are approximately 90.000 hektares of exotic poplar clone plantations in our country Most Widely-used clone is I-214 The SAMSUN (I-77/51) UNFF9, New York 2011

Provenances Trials The main aim of the provenances trail is to determine the best performing provenances for forestations, each geographic zone in Turkey. Turkish Forest Research Institutes are carrying out 5 provenances trials1- Red Pine (Pinusbrutia Ten ) 2- Taurus Cedar (Cedruslibani A. Rich ) 3-Turkish Pine (Pinusnigra) 4- Scotch Pine (Pinussylvestis L.) 5- Provenance Trial of Stone Pine (PinuspineaL.) (in Mediterranean region) Firstestablished in 1984 UNFF9, New York 2011
