  2. Outline of Topics • CEH Award Policy • What you will learn at the 2014 Operator Conference • Conference Evaluations – Participant (we grade you) & Activity (you grade us) • Certificate of Completion – “you have earned your CEHs!!”

SERC CEH Award Policy • SERC will award 19 CEHs in emergency-related operating topics (10 hours Simulation, 6 hours Standards) to qualified attendees only. • Each attendee requesting CEHs must register prior to delivery of the training activity for which they are requesting hours. • Daily Sign-In Sheets will serve as the official record of attendance.

  4. SERC CEH Award Policy • How do we validate that learning objectives have been met? • Active participation in drill exercises and • Written learning assessments • Attendees must be present and participating during the entire training activity to receive CEH credit. • Partial credit for partial attendance will not be awarded.

  5. SERC CEH Award Policy • Certificates of completion listing CEHs awarded will be provided at the conclusion of the conference. • The SERC System Operator Subcommittee (SOS) is the final authority for any questions concerning the award of CEHs.

What Will You Learn? • Protective Relaying Refresher • System Protection Coordination (NERC Standard PRC-001) • Need to know purpose & limitations of protective schemes! • Basic relay types and schemes for: • Generator, transformer, transmission line and bus protection. • UFLS & UVLS protection • “Last resort” system preservation methods

What Will You Learn? • Protection System Misoperations – Impact on Operators • Understanding NERC System Protection Coordination and Misoperation standards – PRC-001 and PRC-004 • Impact of misops on BES reliability • Misoperation reporting process • Misoperation categories and causes • Illustrations of how misops occur

  11. What Will You Learn? • CIP for Operators – The Insider Threat • Behaviors that may signal an insider security threat • Case histories of recent attacks – what to look for…. • How can we prevent, mitigate or stop insider crime?

Participant EvaluationHow will you be evaluated • Simulator Worksheets (All Day Wednesday Break-out Groups) • Participants demonstrate competency in meeting conference objectives through simulated event (run on an OTS). • Participants must keep worksheets and complete review questions in their groups, monitored by the facilitators. • Classroom Learning Assessments (Tuesday &Thursday Break-out Groups) • Participants demonstrate competency in meeting conference objectives through multiple-choice quizzes, which are then reviewed by facilitators.

  13. Activity EvaluationHow will you “grade” this learning activity? 2014 On-Line Feedback Form Completing the on-line feedback form at will help us plan better conferences!

  14. Your Record of Successful Completion!The “Certificate” CE hours will be posted to NERC SOCCED Database no later than 60 days following last day of conference!
