PROGRAM STAFF… What we know • Diversity of staff is increasing • Variety of professional development levels • Challenge to manage time with children and families and time in planning and documenting given the level of funding currently available f0r positions • Working within a variety of schools, agencies and organizational systems • Additional skills are needed to work with children and families with complex needs • Continued support and resources are needed to work with children and families from diverse cultures • Additional professional learning around school readiness and school readiness goals is needed to support better outcomes for our children

Education • School Readiness Goals: Program wide SR goals for the 5 essential domains, with service area objectives/activities to support goal attainment • Instruction: Support SR goals through core curricula, content-based teaching, & differentiated instruction to support educational equity (e.g., Creative Curriculum, 2nd Step, GLAD strategies, Bilingual Instructional Assistants, Additional person in CR, etc.) • Supports to Sites: Regional teams support educational leaders; coaching cadre provide TA & focused coaching (content area, data coaching, instructional support & more) • Use of Data: GOLD, CLASS, attendance, health data, etc., used to support SR goal attainment. PD at classroom, site, region, ESD levels

Human Resources • Subcontractors do their own hiring and manage their own staff and provide documentation of system compliance to PSESD • Provided with policies and procedures to guide their processes • PSESD ECEAP monitors compliance of site staff qualifications and training requirements • Puget Sound ESD provides HR services for ECEAP staff employed by the ESD
PSESD Budgeting • Sub-contractor funds based on per child & per site allocation • Non-school districts receive $4,974 per child and $1,000 per site • School districts receive $4,772 per child and $1,000 per site • Subcontractors are reimbursed on a claim for reimbursement basis TD

Transportation • Located in Pacific, Washington • Mostly part-time staff made up of 24 school transportation professionals • Serve approximately 230 Head Start and 500 ECEAP student each day to and from: • Highline Head Start (HS) • Kent Youth and Family Services (HS & ECEAP) • Pierce County Community Connections (ECEAP) • Bates Technical College (ECEAP • Denise Louie Education Center (HS)
Road To Independence Van Program • Since February 2002 • Goal: provide transportation and enhanced mobility to eligible riders in North Pierce and South King counties • Grant funded program offering no cost transportation options • Also offers eligible Community Jobs/WorkFirst participants job training and employment related transportation services
