  19. Vision toolbar functions My Classrooms Lets you select and manage Vision Classrooms. Stop Modes Stops Vision functions running on student computers. Connect Classroom Connects to selected classroom to manage students. Request User Name Sends a request to students asking them to enter their name. Disconnect Classroom Disconnects the active classroom. Shutdown Allows you to remotely shutdown, restart or logon student computers. Demo Starts a demo in the mode you select from drop-down list. App-Control Launch and control files, applications on students’ computers. Remote Control Starts a remote control session with the student you select. Surf-Lock Provides access to Surf-Lock features. Virtual Teacher For sharing a student’s screen with others—”model student” function. Pointer Opens the Pointer toolbar used for annotation. Blank Screen Locks students’ mouse/keyboard and replaces desktop with fixed image. Snap Starts the Snap program to take snapshots of a student’s screen. Live Supervision Allows you to monitor a specific student’s computer. Snap Viewer Opens the Snap viewer on student computers, to show them images you have captured with the Snap program.   20. Using Vision with LangLab PASSPORT (1) Live Supervision Select the student you want to monitor from the drop-down list. Use it with LangLab PASSPORT: --when a student is having problems with written work or viewed material, to help the student • Written responses • A Web site the student is using • Images • Documents (or something in the text window itself) • Video clips the student is watching and has paused --as an extra check on progress as students work (testing, etc.) E-LangLab, LLC

  21. Using Vision with LangLab PASSPORT (2) Virtual Teacher Select a student from the drop-down list, share his/her screen with other students. Use it with LangLab PASSPORT: --to share one student’s written answers in the text window with others and discuss them (common errors, interesting answers, etc.) --to share Web sites a student is using for an item with others E-LangLab, LLC

  22. Using Vision with LangLab PASSPORT (3) Demo Show students how to do something.Select the demo type you want to use. The current demo setting is in bolded. Use it with LangLab PASSPORT: • To show them initially how to use the Client module or Let’sT@lk Client • To show them how to do written work for an item and/or explain which answers are correct • To show them how to check Windows sound controls in case of a problem E-LangLab, LLC

  23. Using Vision with LangLab PASSPORT (4) The Blank Screen function Locks a student’s mouse/keyboard, replaces desktop with a static image. Use it with LangLab PASSPORT: • To enforce conditions of timed testing • Keep students from going back to previous items or jumping ahead • Block work on an item after time limit • Enforce the time limit for the whole test • Use it if students in pair/group conversations go off-task and persist after you join group to warn them • Use it for one student, selected students, or the whole class E-LangLab, LLC

Using Vision with LangLab PASSPORT (5) App-Control For sharing files and applications Use it with LangLab PASSPORT: • When you want to send one student’s recording to others • You hear something while monitoring students. • You find the student’s recording for the item in the student_files folder for the course. • You send the file to all. • It plays in a media player. • When you want to send files not yet linked to items of lessons to students, especially material on your computer (CD tracks, etc.) E-LangLab, LLC

Using App-Control to Improvise Lessons (AP Test, etc.) • Create a lesson without content: a name, lots of items, but no clips, text, or files associated with them. • When sound mixer is on, what student hears will be mixed with microphone input in recordings. • Speak to students and remind them to click on Record for each item. • Play a CD track (or video clip), let students respond during pauses or afterward, then stop recording. • Students’ files have prompt and response • Send them to testing agency • Retrieve and provide feedback on them, as with any student recordings. • Import audio later, enrich items with other resources.
