February Meeting “An Introduction to the Application of the GUIDEx Approach to Defence Experimentation” Speaker: Mark Winston-Davis Boeing Defence UK, LogNEC Programme Date & Location: 27 February 2013, Boeing Building 305 .1E, Conf Rm 190C Lunch 11:00 a.m. - Presentation: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Abstract: The focus for this presentation is to introduce the GUIDEx process, used by the Boeing Company to underpin Defence experimentation, to Systems Engineers and to create the conditions for informal discussion about the way in which GUIDEx is used to generate rigorous, auditable campaigns of experiments. The desired end state for the presentation is to create a forum whereby those unfamiliar with the process of Defence experimentation better understand its role in supporting decision-making and to allow those experienced in the use of Defence experimentation to compare and contrast the GUIDEx process with their own techniques, practices and methodologies. The presentation will cover the 5Ws of experimentation (When, Where, What, What, What) and the 21 Threats to a good experiment. Biography:Mark Winston-Davis is the Boeing Logistic Network Enabled Capability Laboratory Manager and Senior Analyst.
