  2. First Mission Trip is in July 2014 • Team of 13 members including Bishop Stephen Andrews and his wife Fawna will be building churches and supporting community this summer in Tarime, Tanzania

  4. Tarime is a New Diocese Born in July 2010 West of the Serengeti National Park, east of Lake Victoria, bordering Kenya to the north. 29 parishes, 25 ordained pastors, 10 catechists, 10,000 Anglicans Website: http://www.anglicantarime.org/

  5. Algoma Tarime Mission 2014 • Approximately 90% in Tarime are Not Christian! • Agriculture is the foundation of the economy • Livestock increasing as agricultural activity • Economy relies heavily(50%) on export revenue Tarime

Some of the Current TarimeProjects • Planting New Churches/Teaching the Bible • Economic Empowerment for women/young girls. • Promoting Women’s Rights • Reproductive Health Education in Schools. • Peace Building in the communities • Improving Farming Methods/Food Security. • Diocese of Algoma has committed to: • CONSTRUCTION OF CHURCH BUILDINGS • FUNDS FOR MOTORCYCLE TRANSPORTATION FOR CLERGY

A Planned Partnership • Congregation erects the walls • through self-help. • OFTEN POOR WOMEN & WIDOWS! • Bishop Mwita raises money for the roofing costs • These specialized roofs will provide water collection for the surrounding community • (CORRUGATED IRON SHEETS required for the Roof ) • 1 Sheet = $10.

  11. Roof to Be Used for Collecting Clean Water and the building may be used as a multi purpose building for the community. Smaller Roof = $4,000 Larger Roof = $6,000

  12. Better Transportation for Clergy pikipiki(motorcycles in Swahili) being presented to the parish churches of Manga and Mangucha - the road access to both parishes is ... challenging(??). • 3 More Motorcycles for Pastors in Far End of Diocese. • Cost of 1 = $1,500 (US).

  13. Evangelization of Young People Soccer Evangelism Choir Evangelism

  14. Reproductive Health Education in SchoolsTo Stop Female Circumcision & Prevent HIV/Aids. 1,000 Children Sensitized. 10,000+ Still Waiting. More Funds Needed.

  15. Economic Empowerment for Young Girls Treadle Sewing Machines = Practical Skill & Income 10 Donated 30 More Purchased After Local Fundraising. Challenge #1: Larger Classroom Needed.

  16. “Let the Little Children Come to Me” • No Sunday Schools. • No mid-week or • pre-school activities • Vision: Parish = community center for mothers/kids. Director of Children’s Ministry Needed Soon. Challenge: Salary, Computer & Travel Costs

  17. Improving Food Security Through Diocesan Agricultural Center 1/3 of Tanzania is arid or semi-arid receiving 800mm of rain or less
