  4. Homework Students write homework assignments in agenda daily/weekly Homework is also located on my website where most assignments can be printed Spelling and Reading Logs are due on Fridays Other homework may sometimes be assigned

  5. Parent Communication Folders Graded papers sent home every two weeks Students/parents keep graded work unless noted to correct, sign, and return Return empty folder next school day Note to/from parents should be placed in folders. Please let your child know about these notes!

  7. Accelerated Reader • Goals are set for the nine weeks • Students should be reading A.R. books nightly at home, as well as at school • End of 9 weeks reward for those who meet or exceed their goals • May take A.R. tests in morning or when finished early with work

  8. Spelling 15 Basic words weekly (phonics-based)‏ 5 text-related “challenge” words weekly Word list relates to reading lessons Weekly spelling assessment

  10. Math Assessment Standards-Based Assessment Unit assessments Timed Tests White board assessment Observations during centers and independent work

  11. Social Studies Map skills Geography (Daily Geography)‏ History- Ancient Greece; Famous Americans Economics Government / Civics

  12. Science Earth Science (rocks, minerals, fossils, erosion)‏ Physical Science (heat energy, magnets)‏ Life Science (habitats, pollution)‏ Healthy Living and Personal Safety

  13. Cursive Handwriting Learn basic strokes Learn /practice one or two new letters daily

  14. Grading Procedure Daily/Weekly skill evaluations Grading Rubrics (3- Consistent achievement of standard, 2- Ongoing progress toward standard, 1- Limited or minimal progress toward standard)‏ Homework evaluated, recorded for completion, not graded

  15. Testing ITBS and CogAT (Sept. 7-13) CRCT (Spring) Benchmark Test (week of Oct. 24 and week of Feb. 13)
