Writing: Compound Characters • Compound characters are most often a semantic-phonetic combination of two simple characters or a radical and a simple character. • One component suggests the meaning (normally the one on the left). • The other component suggests the sound (normally the one on the right). • 妈，吵，骂，吐，远，河，佣

  13. Typing: Additional Tools • Other tools can help you to convert Hànzì to pīnyīn, define words, etc. • I use a tool called DimSum.
