CURRENT STATUS OF AGRICULTURE IN DELHI • Delhi is primarily a City State and has limited land under Agriculture and shrinking fast due to rapid urbanization, industrialization and land use for other non-agriculture purposes, the total cropped has continuously been declining. Under such condition, it is not possible to increase the area, hence there is scope to increase the production and productivity under agri-horticultural crops. The position over the last decade in respect of availability of land for cultivation is as under : YearTotal CroppedArea in Hectares 1990-91 76,239 2000-01 52,816 2004-05 41,508 • As per Delhi Master Plan 2021 published by D.D.A., the total area earmarked for Delhi would be available to the extent of 11.000 hect. for agri.-horticulture, green belt, dairy etc. by the year 2020-21.   11. Cont. ii) BALANCE USE OF FERTILIZERS To promoted balance use of fertilizers, the following measure are being taken:

  12. Cont.iii) INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT (I.P.M.)To promote and pupularise Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for control of insect pests and diseases of various agri-horticulture crops, the following steps are being taken

  13. Cont. Iv) INTEGRATED NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT (I.N.M.) Under the Integrated Nutrient Management (I.N.M.), the following various activity are being undertaken for management of soil health and fertility improvement through testing of soil and water samples as well as reclamation of saline & alkaline soil with the application of soil amendments to maintain soil health and fertility improvement:-

Item No. 4- STEPS TAKEN TO IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY. • Intensification of public awareness programmes: Prog. 04-05 (36),05-06 (40) upto August,05 (08) • Supply of quality Inputs. • Promoting Seed Replacement Rate: 15% to 25% • Promoting crop diversification. • Intensification of Services. • Laying out Demonstration Plots. • Credit: Kishan Credit Cards-3207 Loan during 2004-05: Rs. 1620.82 lacs

  15. Item No. 5- PROGRESS ON APMC AMENDMENT • Major provisions under APMC at have been amended by the Govt. of Delhi. • The provisions in respect of the following are under the process of amendment • Contract Farming • Participation of public • Spot trading
