Revised codes of practice Code 1: Consent Code 2: Donation of solid organs for transplantation Code 3: Post-mortem examination Code 4: Anatomical examination Code 5: Disposal of human tissue Code 6: Donation of allogeneic bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cells for transplantation Code 7: Public display Code 8: Import and export of human bodies, body parts and tissue (May 2007) Code 9: Research NEW

  4. Consultation process 1 August 2008 14 November 2008 Stakeholders were able to comment on the draft revised codes by: • Responding online • Participating in workshops - London and Newcastle

  5. Consultation process • 179 online responses • 100 people attended the workshops

  6. Rationale • Summary of the responses received to the consultation • Identifies key themes to emerge from the consultation

  7. Benefits of the revised codes • More relevant to the sectors we regulate • More guidance on the standards expected for activities carried out within the HTA’s remit • Restructured to make them easier to use

  8. Where are we now? • On 20 May 2009 the revised codes were laid before both Houses of Parliament • The revised codes will come into force by Directions in September 2009 • They are now available to view on our website www.hta.gov.uk
