  2. HISTORY The ear pull is used to help Alaska Natives tolerate pain, in order to prepare for pulling the seals during the winter.

  3. RULES In the game the contestants must put the string behind their left ear and the opponent the same. The contestants must pull back (causing much pain). The game continues until the string falls off or a contestant quits due to the pain they have endured. The game has three rounds a player must win two rounds in a row, each round the players switch ears.

  4. This game is participated in because it teaches the skills to withstand pain, and teach you how hard it is to live in the harsh realities of the North. To children it is a lesson of survival, and to adults it shows if they can tolerate pain to the highest levels. The reason most people enter this game is to see who is the strongest out of the two competing against each other. “Why People Participate in The Game”

  5. Conclusion In conclusion the eskimo ear pull, is a very simple yet painful game. Some competitors would say they play the game to endure pain. It was actually created to help eskimos endure ear frostbite. The victor demonstrates abilities to withstand pain and the harsh environment of the North.
