Pre-mission Training Steps • Are based on STANAG 6023 and Manual for TEPSO (ATrain01-P) requirements (Latvia ratified this STANAG) • Pre-mission trg consists of several parts: • Basic trg • PSO trg • Mission specific trg • Personnel categories to be trained: • Individual trg • Specialists / Key personnel trg • Collective / subunits trg • HQ trg
Current shortfalls and problems • Basic problem - coordination and information exchange among trainers/trained and mission planners • Necessity to establish independent PSO Training Centre (or unit) which would coordinate all PSO trg and pre-deployment preparations of LNAF units • Lack of fast and relevant feedback system; Need for better information from deployment area to adjust training(LI and LL system will be established in LNAF in these months; LL influences changes in doctrines, trg programs, Tactics, Technics & Procedures)
Necessary improvements • To improve qualification of training program developers • To develop PSO training programs and their adjustment procedures • To improve training areas and equipment (simulation and / or availability of the same equipment that will be provided / used in mission area) • To improve logistics support capabilities for pre-missions training • To offer additional edu/trg possibilities using alternatives edu/trg delivery ways – ADL (Advanced Distributed Learning)
ADL • National Military Distance Learning Center’s portal - www.adl.mil.lv/ilias3(“Environmental Management in LNAF” is launched as a pilotcourse. This year we plan to develop G-36; CBRN Pre-mission Basic Course; and ask to Bulgaria for assistance in preparing of English Course) • JADLL portal - jadl.act.nato.int– wide rangeof ADL courses, i.e. PSO trg (for example, last one launched: „ISAF Individual Augmentee Pre-Deployment Online Course”)
Int’l PSO Trg Cooperation • EOD School: NATO countries (Norway, USA, etc.) and provide trg for Iraqi officers • Signal School: NATO countries and Denmark /Sweden • Naval Training Center and Diving School: NATO countries and Sweden/ Norway • Language School: NATO countries • TRADOC Staff: NATO, EU countries, ICRC, IOs and NGOs • Land Forces, National Guards and other LNAF Services: Norway (Exercise “Cold Response”), Germany and other NATO countries
