Real Estate Cadastre and Registration Project • Objectives: • To increase confidence and lower transaction costs by building a more efficient property registration and cadastre system, with the purpose of contributing to the development of effective real property markets; • To support the phased transfer of the legal property registration into the Real Estate Cadastre from the currently operating in some of the municipal courts in 20% of the Serbia; • To support one of Serbia’s possible EU accession requirements, of efficient markets including real property markets. • Components: • Operational Development and Support • Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening

Real Estate Cadastre and Registration Project • Total Cost: US$ 56 m + • Financing: • IDA: US$ 30m • GOS: US$ 9.5 m • EU / EAR: US$ 12 m • Sweden: US$ 0.8 m • Germany: US$ 1.5 m • Norway: US$ 2.5 m • France, Japan, Slovenia • Project effectively coordinates donor efforts to help build a single cadastre and registration system

Irrigation and Drainage Rehabilitation Project • Objectives: • To increase agricultural productivity through support to high priority rehabilitation of drainage and irrigation infrastructure; • To reduce the risk of damage from flooding to land, crops, property, infrastructure as well as reducing risk of life loss from flooding in project areas; and • To improve water resources management and strengthen the associated water resource management institutions and policies. • Components: • Rehabilitation and Improvement of Drainage and Flood Control Infrastructure • Minor Irrigation Development Program • Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building, and • Project Management and Monitoring

Irrigation and Drainage Rehabilitation Project • Total cost: US$ 32.7 m • Financing: • IDA/IBRD: US$ 25 m • GOS: US$ 7.7 m • Implementation period: 2006 - 2010 • Coordination with donors: • EAR focusing on medium-term legal and institutional aspects of water resources management, Bank on urgent investment needs • CIDA funding for detailed social and environmental assessment

GEF Danube River Enterprise Pollution Reduction Project • Objective: To reduce nutrient flows into the Danube and its tributaries from selected livestock farms and slaughterhouses. • Five components: • Support to Policy and Regulatory Reform, • Investments in Nutrient Reduction • Water and Soil Quality Monitoring • Public Awareness Raising and Replication Strategy • Project Management and Impact Monitoring. • Total cost:US$ 22.7 million, • Financing: • GEF: US$ 9.0m, • Beneficiaries: US$ 8.6m, • SIDA: US$ 4.0 m; • GoS: US$ 0.6 m; • EAR: US$ 0.1 m. • Implementation period:2005 – 2009

Danube River Enterprise Pollution Reduction Project • Benefits: • Reduced negative impact of pollution on public health, biodiversity • Enhanced competitiveness of meat industry through improved environmental compliance • Financial benefits from manure recycling to land • Help to harmonization with EU Nitrate and Animal By-Products Directives • SIDA and EAR co-financing • Synergies • Complements EU/ EAR, Sweden and Finland initiatives on environmental management • Complements MAFWM efforts to strengthen agricultural and veterinary inspections • Coordinates with Norway initiative to clean up Great Backa Canal • Contributes to MAFWM and MSEP cooperation on environmentally friendly agriculture

Rural Business Environment Project • Objectives: • To promote the competitiveness of the Serbian farms and agro-processing enterprises on global markets by assisting them in accessing markets, credit, and relevant technology and advice; and • To alleviate rural poverty by providing matching grants for selected activities designed to boost employment and improve access to services by rural communities.

Rural Business Environment Project • Total cost: TBD • Financing: • IBRD loan: US$ 25 – 40 m, • GoS: TBD • EAR: TBD • Implementation period: 2007 - 2011 • Four components: • Support to increasing farmers' and agro-processors' access to markets, credit and knowledge • Rural development grants to rural communities, enterprises and associations • Support for institutional harmonization with the EU • Project management and Monitoring.

Rural Business Environment Project Synergies • Existing and planned donor activities: • Rural finance (EBRD, EIA, KfW, EAR, USAID… ) • Agricultural Knowledge and Information Systems (FAO, USAID, SIDA,..) • Access to markets (EBRD, USAID, …) • Rural development grant component to build on EAR supported Paying Agency • Complement EAR funded activities to reform sanitary and phyto-sanitary system • Collaboration with Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection on AKIS

In-Situ Agro-biodiversity Conservation Project • Objective To support the conservation of the globally important eco-system of the Stara Planina Nature Park and the endemic endangered flora and fauna species it harbors by promoting traditional sustainable and biodiversity-sensitive agricultural practices. • Five components: • Support to policy development and planning for agro-biodiversity conservation. • Developing incentives for in situ agro-biodiversity conservation. • Institutional capacity building. • Raising public awareness and replication strategy • Project management and impact monitoring. • Total Project Cost:US$ 10 m • Financing: GEF: US$ 5 m, Co-financing from IBRD loan: US$ 5 m • Implementation period:2007 – 2011

In-Situ Agro-biodiversity Conservation Project Synergies • Builds on environmentally friendly, local NGO implemented rural development activities funded by Switzerland and KfW • Builds on protected area planning work by the Nature Protection Agency • Will support cooperation with Bulgaria on Stara Planina Peace Park
