How Does My Business Become Certified? • Self-certify that the company is conducting certain basic environmental practices • reduce their environmental impact • Report yearly progress • Strive to improve environmental performance • Encouraged to develop environmental programs and goals • create accountability for progress and achievement
Levels of Certification • Two levels • based on the degree of commitment towards becoming environmentally responsible

Step 1: Environmental Commitment Agreement Our policy is to improve environmental performance through responsible business operations. We believe that it is our duty to prevent pollution by conserving natural resources, improving energy efficiency, and minimizing the creation of any hazardous or solid waste. By agreeing to the following objectives, we intend to uphold our commitment to becoming a more environmentally conscientious business and actively strive to reduce our environmental impact. Our organization is dedicated to continuously improving our sustainability efforts, and striving to be a model for other organizations and our community by promising to: • Conduct business in an environmentally responsible manner by considering the economic, social, and environmental consequences of all business operations to reduce risk to employees and the community. • Comply with all applicable environmental/health and safety regulations established by regulatory bodies along with those adopted through the OGBC Green Business Certification. • Strive to conserve energy, water, and non-renewable resources through efficiency methods that will reduce environmental impact. • Develop and implement action plans in order to prevent pollution, minimize emissions and waste, and reduce the use of natural resources. • Integrate sustainability efforts into all business decisions through the development of a green team that communicates and trains environmental awareness, actions, and responsibilities to management/employees. • Improve environmental responsibility efforts by continually seeking opportunities to enhance environmental performance and create accountability for progress by measuring impact reduction as well as report progress annually to OGBC and company stakeholders. _____________________________ __________________________ _____________ Company Officer Printed Name Date _____________________________ __________________________ _____________ OGBC Director Printed Name Date

Step 3: Regulatory Compliance Ensure business operations are in full compliance with all applicable government environmental laws and regulations in order to conserve resources, prevent pollution, and minimize waste. Regulated materials include solid waste, hazardous waste, mixed/contaminated waste, air emissions, waste water discharge, stormwater runoff/discharge, underwater storage tanks, and other hazardous substances. Step 5: Training Workshops (Emerald Only) • One or more members are required to attend a Omaha Green Business Council (OGBC) environmental training workshop. • provide the necessary training and information to implement green business practices • improve environmental performance • minimize regulatory burden • reduce operating costs

Step 7: Submit Application Please indicate the certification status your organization is applying for: Once we obtain all the necessary information and required documents, your company will be notified that you have been certified by the Omaha Green Business Council as an environmentally responsible business.
