  2. Water • Euphrates and the Tigristogether flow more than 52.9 billion cubic meters of water a year.  • Upon the completion: 29 % of the total water potential of Turkey will be managed • The total cost of the project is estimated as 23 billion US $.

  3. Food • 20 % of total irrigable land in Turkey is in this region. • Irrigationof 1.82 million hectares of land. • From 2002-2009 an increase %51 of irrigeableland.

  4. Energy • The water resources development component of the program envisages the construction of 22 dams and 19 hydraulic power plants. • The total installed capacity of power plants is 7476 MW and projected annual energy production reaches 27 billion kWh. • The region represents 28 % of Turkey's total hydraulic potential mainly with the rivers Euphrates and Tigris.

  5. TheNexus • The development program encompasses such sectors as irrigation, hydraulic energy, agriculture, rural and urban infrastructure, forestry, education and health.
