Inform Garland community of value of community college education throughout their lives, both for college credit and non-credit Continuing Education. (College Fairs and group/individual assessment and advising for college and career readiness.) Seamless K-16 educational pipeline partnerships. Economic development partnerships. Phase One: career-related education, training, and services. Subsequent phases: offer other college programs and mission services, commensurate with community education needs, funding, accreditation, and other area education resources. MYTH: Fixing the K-12 system is the answer. FACT: Of course, it is essential that we ensure an adequate pool of educated, skilled labor. But that is only part of the answer: 83% of the 2010 workforce was already in the workforce in the year 2000.
