  1. Lab Report How to get the most points out of a lab evaluation.

  2. Parts of the Lab Report • Manipulative Skills • Following the instructions • Carrying out techniques • Working safely • Design • Problem/ Hypothesis • Variables • Data Collection • Data Collection and Processing • Recording • Processing • Presenting • Conclusion and Evaluation • Concluding • Evaluating • Interpreting

  3. Designing

  4. Sample 1 • Problem: • To identify the objects given by calculating their density • Variables: • Independent: material of the object, scales used, human error • Dependent: mass of the object, volume of the object, density of the object • Materials: 9 objects and water • Equipment: Scales (2), beaker, ruler, calculator

  5. Design Analysis

  6. Data Collection and Processing

  7. Data C/ P Sample 1

  8. Data C/Processing Sample 1

  9. Data C and P Analysis

  10. Conclusion and Evaluation

  11. Conclusion/ Evaluation • Using the densities I calculated in the lab I identified 8 of the 9 objects. They are as follows: • Object 1: ????? - Object 6: Cork • Object 2: Brass - Object 7: Wood • Object 3: Acrylic - Object 8: Rubber • Object 4: Aluminum - Object 9: Iron • Object 5: Nickle I was able to correctly identify some of the objects, but in most cases my densities were slightly different for that object. If I could do this again I would re-calibrate the scales every use and try to cut out human error by having more than two people collecting data.
