Goals & Objectives Goal 1: Obtain funding for the expansion of the Smithton Public Safety Training Facility Goal 2: Provide professional, state of-the-art training facility in support of first responders and receivers Goal 3: Provide a one-of-a-kind training site accessible for all users within FEMA Region 3
Site Overview • 167 Acre Site with feasibility for expansion • On Interstate 70 exit 49 centrally located for region which includes New York, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania • 4 Hour Drive from Washington DC on Interstate and Turnpike
Present Capabilities Pistol / Shotgun Range Classrooms 2 Burn Buildings Tanker Rail Car Area for Confined Space Training Room for Drills and Exercises 2 Ponds utilized for training
Proposed Development Plan Phase 1 – Present Status Phase 2 – Expansion of Training Facilities Phase 3 – Completion of the Development of the Program
Personnel • Personnel to conduct training are readily available • Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) • Continuity of Operations (COOP) • Vulnerability Assessments • ICS / EOC Training • Law Enforcement • EMS • Fire
Costs Costs for utilization would be minimal for organizations Projects heavy utilization of Mobile Training Teams (MTT)
Projection Projection that the facility would be self-sustaining in 4 years
