Timing • November – packets to post/schools • PSAT opt out option (zip codes, easiest) • January – order names • Purge opt out groups • Feb 1 – Letter 1 • (review list for those who have already applied) • March 1 – Letter 2 (subtract applicants) • April 10 – Letter 3 (subtract applicants)
Letter Addresses • Feb 1 – Letter 1 • Delegate directly • March 1 – Letter 2 • To the parents of (delegate) • April 10 – Letter 3 • To the parents (extended deadline)
Application Coding • DEV1 = PSAT (1, 2 or 3) • HS = High School • POST = Legion Post • NOM = Nomination form • MW = MidWinter • NET = NET (downloaded pdf) • On-Line = form completed on line • YB = Yearbook (letter to current staff/staters with application for upcoming session to pass along)
Final Thoughts • Without this we would probably around 200 vs 450 • This is cost effective • This gets to places where Legions don’t exist • This gets to places where schools are less involved • This gets to home schooled students • Higher Target rate (high counselor priority) from Non-Traditional sources • This still requires the schools to be involved (signed off that student qualifies) • This allows posts that can remain involved to sign off as well – otherwise the Legion HQ in Topeka (also considered a post) serves to signoff and accept delegates
