Bible passage : matthew 19 : 3-5 • 3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? • 4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, • 5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

Divorce on any ground except (PORNEIA – Greek) fornication means you would be making your spouse to live in adultery if such a spouse remarries. Also remarrying after divorce is a violation of ones covenant of fidelity to the previous spouse which should not be broken • 3. Jesus taught the disciple about the sin of adultery as one of the consequence of any one that divorces and remarries • 4. Adultery was never a reason for legal divorce neither among the Jews nor at the time of Moses (Deut. 22 : 22-24)

Jesus demonstrated that God hates divorce and not the divorcee (John 14: 6 – 18) • We should be there for those going through trauma and pains of divorce
Summary & conclusion • God made marriage to be permanent • Marriage is not a mere civil contract – It is sacred and a lifelong covenant
