So far…………….. • We have looked at: • Whether we believe Capital Punishment is right or wrong • Arguments for and against death penalty ( with video clip) • Documentary on death row • 2 close reading: one on stoning and one on Death row meals • Completed our own death row menu • Next week we will be preparing for the major piece of work- Capital punishment: right or wrong essay. • Today we are……………………………………….

Learning to: do a 20 minute piece of imaginative letter writing imagining we are on DEATH ROW • Success Criteria: I can produce a piece of writing which shows I understand the death row experience • I can show the emotions the death row inmates feel • I can describe the sights and sounds of death row • I can express the thought the death row inmates might be feeling.

  4. Death Row • You will notice that the young man on death row wrote a letter. • This is what your activity today is- writing a letter to a loved one saying goodbye.

  5. SEEING FOR YOURSELF • You will now see some images from death row. These will help you imagine what it is like.

  6. Now …….You have twenty mins • You must write a letter to a loved one at home to let them know how and when you are going to die. • Say whether you want them to attend your death or not • You must either confess to your crime or deny it. • You must describe your living conditions and cell • Say how you are treated • What you are feeling • Say any regrets you have • Say if you would do things differently • You can also tell them your death row meal and whether you intend to eat it or not. • Lastly tell them about what you will miss/not miss about them
