Other Transportation Funding • Federal surface transportation law provides tremendous flexibility to fund bicycle and pedestrian improvements from a wide variety of programs. • Virtually all the major federal transportation funding programs can be used for bicycle and pedestrian projects. • However, bicycle projects must be "principally for transportation rather than recreation purposes”.
