  2. Totals to Date • Football Recycling reached almost 27,000 pounds of recycling in the 2011 season • That is equal to approximately 270,000 plastics bottles

Bob Devaney Sports Center Efforts • Increased recycling containers at events • Transitioning to all “green” cleaning products • Recycle all scrap metal and wood pallets • Installing longer lasting more efficient light bulbs • Upgraded sprinkler heads to more efficient heads • Reseeded with a more drought resistant grass • Using motion sensors on bathroom lights • Using motion sensors on bathroom toilet fixtures • Researching electric equipment

Memorialstadium and • surrounding facility Efforts • New efforts in recycling cardboard • Increased post game recycling efforts • Increased recycling containers at all events • Recycle all scrap metal and wood pallets • Installing longer lasting more efficient light bulbs • New maintenance program for leaking faucets and ice machines throughout stadium • Installed block out shades in skybox suites

Capital project, planning and constructionEfforts • Demountable wall partitions to reduce waste • Cradle to cradle carpet tiles • LED lighting specifications where applicable • Staff awareness efforts • Working with Marketing HuskerVision on additional PSA’s • Re-purposed close to $500,000 in furniture • New furniture purchased contributes to LEED

  7. Game Day/Event post game staffing clean-up information • Stadium: 3 to 4 persons dedicated to post game clean-up every day until the following Thursday (172 Hours). ROTC immediate post game trash • Devaney: 21 persons two and a half days dedicated to post game clean up for Men’s Basketball (106 Hours)

  8. Athletics Initiative Development A: Stadium Stands Recycling Development -Language in current recycling contract would need to be changed for this to move forward. Our Business Office is going to try and negotiate the contract to language that would make this initiative more feasible. B: Increase recycling at events by 5% over the next 2 years by doing the following: -Increase recycling bins available at all events. -Increase education for fans through PSA’s and video at all events. -Game Promotions for fans who recycle.
