BP’s WITSML data management vision • Very strong focus on driving the marketplace to embrace the enhanced capabilities of WITSML – eg. plug & play of intelligent algorithms and tools. • Develop a truly open environment for information exchange. Share data between BP and vendors/service providers, partners and regulatory/statutory reporting bodies. • Single point data entry. • Pre-populate the Daily Report (DIMS/OpenWells) • Update designs with changes between BP and contractors • Maximise data entry automation

The D&C Digital service delivery • BP is re-defining its digital technology delivery to support Drilling & Completions • We are looking to standardise tools and processes on a global basis • D&C Digital is an integrated service delivery covering R&D technology and applications support • D&C Digital is a mark of quality that justifiably sets expectations for our customers • Everyone delivering digital services to the BP D&C community will be seen as an extended member of the D&C Digital team

  5. D&C Digital Recommended Practices • The D&C Digital portal will be a single access point for all information on D&C global operations. It will also contain the latest information on D&C Domain projects and D&C Digital operations. • D&C Digital RP’s will be developed and published in the “Best Practice” area. • The portal will be available in June 2006. • The D&C Digital portal is a tool for the D&C global community.

Summary from the WITSML perspective • A clear unambiguous WITSML standard is a must have • for the D&C Digital programme • The standard must be stable for a defined period (2 • years?) • Third party tools and smart processes must be plug and • play • D&C Digital needs WITSML now to fulfil its delivery • targets • The D&C Digital team has a significant task ahead to • convince the BP D&C community of the value of • WITSML • WITSML is part of the D&C Digital strategy but it extends • far beyond this.
