    2. Agenda Space Power Density Power Pricing Vertical Marketplaces

    3. Space – the final frontier Lack of Profit in 2004 = undercapitalization in 2005 = limited build out in 2006 Two tier market – extreme excess in Germany, serious shortage in FR and UK, NL - soon! Announcements – Interxion, IX, RBITCY in PARIS. Interxion and IX in UK Rollout not equal to demand..Lack of Profit in 2004 = undercapitalization in 2005 = limited build out in 2006 Two tier market – extreme excess in Germany, serious shortage in FR and UK, NL - soon! 4. Space – the final frontier “Waiting list” Price impact (new cost of replacement) CAPEX adds up to EUR170/m2 month costs Market price stabilization in 2008 (except Germany!) 1 – Long term planning needs to be stronger. For ex: LD4 is a 10 month buildout to opening, other new builds will be the same. Carrier digs may also restart. 2 – The EUR1,000 rack (no power, no services) is not unrealistic, so we need to communicate better. 3 – London is there, France and Amsterdam are going there, Germany…1 – Long term planning needs to be stronger. 5. Power Density – but not THAT dense! Average: 2000 – 300W/m2 (650W/m2 design) 2006 – 800W/m2 (1,200W/m2 design) 2008 – Peak – 1,200W/m2 usage and design Reality is not quite what everyone is scared of. Why – plate readings 100%, CPU utilization <30%, Why Peak? Law, Tax, Moore’s Green Law. (Something the Blade server makers don’t want you to know): Double CAPEX per m2 since 2000, 50-70% increase in OPEX.Reality is not quite what everyone is scared of. 6. Power Density – the Cool Side Standard air cooling raised floor can handle: 15,000W/rack loads (though, this is a bit crazy) 2,000W/m2 zone loads (though, it ain’t cheap) 25,000W/m2 enclosed racks (though, reeaally expensive) HOW: Hot/Cold corridor Proper measurement Gap and short circuit closing Floor tile placement Underfloor air shaping Overhead heat extraction The current technology will more than ride the wave with only minor retrofitting. Pushing the HVAC barrier is not a long term bet but a short term crunch.HOW: Hot/Cold corridor Proper measurement Gap and short circuit closing Floor tile placement Underfloor air shaping Overhead heat extraction The current technology will more than ride the wave with only minor retrofitting. 7. Power Density – conclusion Space and Power contracts: X m2 @ Y KVA/m2 Separate power usage billing Management and Partnership Power stabilization in 2008 1 – Now, separate definitions of Space, Power Rights and Consumption B – This is the sign of a more mature market. 2 – This is good as it allows a better relationship between customer and supplier – you buy only what you need or plan to use. 3 – By evolution, the power plateau is not far away. No great disaster looming.1 – Now, separate definitions of Space, Power Rights and Consumption B – This is the sign of a more mature market. 2 – This is good as it allows a better relationship between customer and supplier – you buy only what you need or plan to use. 3 – By evolution, the power plateau is not far away. 8. Power Costs Not a pretty picture France was cheap – vive l’Union Europeen IXEurope target Site Efficiency Factor < 2.0 Customer target Application Mgmt 1 – Electricity will follow gas and oil pricing… Gas and oil pricing are going where? 2 – even in a nuclear country, thanks to deregulation. OUTCOME – 10-15cents raw KWH = 22-33 DC power. 3 – IXEurope is now targeting SITE EFFICIENCY FACTORS with clients and in our sites to reduce 4 – Customers need to analyse hardware and software. Start complaining! 90% efficiency possible.1 – Electricity will follow gas and oil pricing… Gas and oil pricing are going where? 2 – even in a nuclear country, thanks to deregulation. 9. Vertical Exchange IXFX™ - Financial Services reduced latency (60%+) faster cross connect and yes, large cost savings Current trader systems costly, slow, inflexible With automated trading – performance is worth Millions Create a place to ensure rapid rollout, reduced latency This then attracts other like services Bank bolster DC link and then uses DC to DC connections to manage global network.Current trader systems costly, slow, inflexible With automated trading – performance is worth Millions Create a place to ensure rapid rollout, reduced latency This then attracts other like services Bank bolster DC link and then uses DC to DC connections to manage global network.

    10. Hope this was informative… Space market will stabilize in 2008 Power density will stabilize in 2008 Power costs will drive application efficiency Vertical Exchanges will create hub and spoke network For more market information: michael.winterson@ixeurope.com +44 7881 588 246
