Statistics on Teenage Health • Poor Nutrition & Exercise: • 46 - 51 % of kids eat fast /junk food 2 – 4 times a week • 2007 Adolescent Survey in AU : • 20 % were eating the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables • 14 % participated in the minimum recommended levels of physical activity • Teen obesity: • Affects 1 in 4 teens in AU and NZ • 19 to 23 % of Australian teens are overweight or obese • Associated complications include : diabetes, vision loss & neuropathy, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and stroke
