What the Economic Crisis means to Stamford Central School • The current recession has been described as the most severe economic downturn experienced in this country in 70 years. • New York State has been particularly hard hit due to the State economy’s dependence on Wall Street. • Deductions in estimated State Aid for next year has caused a decrease in revenues of over 7% Public school recovery typically has followed with a 3 to 5 year lag behind the economy.
SCS Enrollment In 2009-2010, our enrollment is 79% of what it was in 2006-2007. Potentially, that could mean we receive only 79% of the State Aid that is enrollment based – a $1.2 million revenue loss! State Aid is frozen at this number

Proposition TWO:Purchase of 65 passenger School Bus • Next year our state aid for transportation drops from 90% to less than 70% • Use of Bus Reserve Funds to maximize aid now for the following year. • Continue moving toward a 5 year replacement schedule to reduce maintenance costs $ 118,184.75 X .90 = $ 106,366.28 $ 118,184.75 X .70 = $ 82,729.33
