Update Dual Boot MBP/iMac Windows 7 Partition Moving away from the Deploy Studio Imaging Paradigm
Open Disk Utility and check for existing Windows partition; if none found skip to the end.
Highlight the Windows partition and click the small – at the bottom left.
Confirm you want to delete the existing Windows Partition…all data will be gone!
Grab the small triangle at the bottom right and pull it down to fill all the gray space…you are resizing the Macintosh HD partition to take up the full drive.
This is what it looks like after you are done, now hit the apply button lower right corner of Disk Utility.
Here is what Disk Utility should look like once you have deleted the Windows Partition.
Download the WIN7 Install PKG from afp://cit-omniserv/install/Windows Image/WIN7_Deploy_60.40_8.29.13.pkgYou can also put a copy on a thumb drive or external HD for quick access and deployment. Copy the PKG to the ctlocal desktop, double click and follow the prompts.
Note: regardless of HD size this package will do a 60/40 partition split Mac/Win
Once you authenticate with ctlocal; the process will take about 20-30 min depending on machine speed. The advantage to this is that it does not depend on network or server speed you can do as many systems as you like once the file is copied to the desktop.
After the install is complete open up system preferences, set the startup disk to Windows and restart the machine. It will run chkdsk and reboot several times.Upon completion you will be presented with a screen to name the PC; use the correct KISD naming convention, the system will be bound to the staff AD domain and be ready for use.
