  2. What is community service? Community service is an act by a person that benefits the local community. People become involved in community service for many reasons. For some, serving community is an altruistic act, for others it is a punishment.

  3. Habitat for Humanity • At Habitat for Humanity, a new house was built and our job was to lay down the paint job. There were a bunch of us in all of the rooms in the house painting the doors and trimmings. It felt good knowing I was involved in creating somebody's house.

  5. Goodwill • Goodwill Industries International enhances the dignity and quality of life of individuals, families, and communities by eliminating barriers to opportunity and helping people in need reach their fullest potential through the power of work.

  6. Country Club At the tennis tournament in Valdosta Country Club, my friends and I helped keep everything organized by making sure all of the courts were prepped with the right amount of balls. We also had to make sure all of the snacks and refreshments were stocked and neat.

  7. Benefits of Community Service Doing any kind of community service always has its benefits. The biggest and most important is that you are doing it voluntarily and should feel better as a person to know that you are making a difference. I personally feel better about myself because with so much distracting technology today I feel good that I still get out and help my community.

  8. How to get involved inCommunity Service To get involved in community service, the easiest way is to search online for a community service program near your area. There are websites online that can match you up with whatever activity you want to participate in.

  9. Did I Enjoy Participating? Overall I had a lot of fun while I was helping out the community. It took a lot for me to finally get myself out and working but in the long run it has been worth it. Going with friends can make the experience even better because it is always nice to have a friend
