ABOUT THE CLASS The Entrepreneurial Greenhouse Program is a full credit spring term Master class unique to Columbia. The Program assists second-year students readying their businesses for investment.
AN OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM • Getting familiar with each other’s business concepts • Class divided into 4 groups • Specific assignments
AN OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM • Individual sessions • Guest Speaker(s) invited throughout semester to address key issues of a start-up business
BENEFITS OF THE CLASS • Access to experts in key areas • Opportunities to present business concepts to professional investors • Limited funding provided for approved start-up expenses such as legal fees, tradeshow fees etc.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE? • Second year students serious about launching a company upon graduation • EMBA students (if company sponsored, student must have a waiver)
PROCESS TO APPLY..1, 2 STEP 1: Students must submit a complete business plan and presentation on gust.com by Friday, November 30th https://gust.com/angel-group/greenhouse-program-admissions/apply This information can be found on the Lang Center’s website: columbia.edu/entrepreneurship/initiatives/greenhouse
PROCESS TO APPLY STEP 2: On Monday, December 3rd, schedule a time for a formal presentation to members of the Greenhouse Selection Committee. Presentations begin at 8:00am and run throughout the day. Email the Lang Center at entprog@columbia.edu for the schedule. • EMBA students: Special lunch time presentation times will be held.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE PRESENTATION STEP 3:On December 7th, you will present for 7 minutes followed by 3 minutes Q&A. You will be evaluated on the following: • Feasibility • Profitability • Competitiveness • Risk management • Personal Passion • Quality of Presentation • Knowledge of key elements
ADMISSIONS • The Program is very competitive; approximately 15-25 ventures will be accepted to the program • You will receive an email the evening of December 7th with the decision • If admitted, you must have 1000 bidding points that can be charged towards the class
