  1. Symbolic Logic • Everything starts somewhere; in particular, mathematics attributes its origins to the realm of propositional logic • To work with the fundamentals of logic, it is most convenient to use symbolic logic

  2. Propositional Logic • When a proof is constructed, one cannot, in most cases, show that a property is valid for only a single value • Propositional logic is the oldest and most common way to prove that a particular property holds true for a determined set of elements (EX: all Integers)
