Favourite Food Adult Great crested newts are carnivores and like to eat tiny worms and other insects, whilst the newt tadpoles eat very small creatures like water fleas.
The way it moves It has 2 strategies in hunting sit and wait. The newt is more active at night. When it is in a pond it is active in the day also when freezing cold nights are punctuated by warm, sunny days.
