  2. Purpose • The importance of using the golden rule when dealing with people.

  3. Central Message • The way you treat others, good or bad, can and will affect the way that others treat you.

  4. Internal Validation • In my life I have found that when I am rude to others I tend to focus on the way that others are rude to me. In contrast, when I treat others the way I want to be treated, I still notice the rudeness from others, but I tend to notice more of the way that they are kind to me.

  5. External Validation • In the movie when Mrs. Timms is going to the hospital and she walks into the emergency room and asks a question, the lady gives her a very rude response and sends her somewhere else, because this lady cannot help her unless it is an emergency. Mrs. Timms is continually treated this way by everyone that she asks help from. Even though she is treated this way she never gets angry or loses her temper with any of them. She is a great example of the Golden Rule.

  6. Value • By simply following the Golden Rule you can be of help and bring happiness to others and yourself.
