  2. The birth of Charles Dickens Charles Dickens was born on the 7th February 1812 in Portsmouth, England. His mother’s name Was Elizabeth Dickens his dads name was John Dickens and he was born at Landport Hospital in Portsea however he had 3 brothers and 6 sisters.

  3. The school times of Charles Dickens When he was 12 he went to William Giles School in Chatham near his home that was Also in Chatham. However Charles his brothers and his sisters had to leave School because his dad was in so much Debt that they couldn’t pay the school Fees.

  4. Charles Dickens 1st book In 1836 Charles wrote his 1st book, it Was called The Pickwick Papers, which was his first successful book.

  5. Other books Oliver Twist David Copperfield Great Expectations Nicholas Nickleby Christmas Carol Bleak House And many more.

  6. Family Life. Dickens and his wife had 10 children. But their marriage was not happy. In 1858, they split up. Dickens loved acting. He had his own little theatre at home. While acting in a play in 1857, Dickens fell in love with Ellen Ternan, an actress.

  7. The death of Charles Dickens In June 1870 Dickens died at his home in Kent. He was working on a new book at the time called The Mystery of Edwin Drood. He died because of a train crash in 1864, because he never recovered. Charles Dickens was buried in Westminster Abbey, London.
