Christians can experience healing, forgiveness, nourishment, the strengthening presence of God which enables them to love in turn; all made possible because God’s grace works in the sacraments. There are 7 sacraments; Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the sick, Matrimony and Holy Orders.
Our key learning points for this theme Year R Introduce the idea of God’s presence in our lives at all times. Year 1 Forgiveness and healing. Begin to understand that Jesus taught us how to forgive and link his actions of forgiveness and healing. Year 2 Understand what a sacrament is by exploring the Sacrament of Baptism, Matrimony and the Eucharist. Year 3 Understand the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Explore what happens during Mass and the meaning behind what happens. Year 4 Explore the nature of vocation and its symbolism by reading Old Testament stories, which show how God calls people in faith and the symbolism of anointing. Year 5 Explores the commitment expressed in the Sacraments of Holy Order and Matrimony. Year 6 Explores the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation and the role of the Holy Spirit. Children also explore their role as Christian Disciples
