Monday BW- “Tuff Time” journal Write about your personal identity and the group of friends you identify with. Are you a son/daughter? A student? A friend? Basically, who are you and what are you? Student Leader: Please pass out Early Finisher Packets. All students are to put this in your binder RINGS for your early finisher activities.
Monday’s Objective • I can cite evidence from a text that shows how the author compares and contrasts dolphins and porpoises. • I can create a Venn Diagram comparing/contrasting King Cake to birthday cake. • I can conduct research on important details between Carnival in Louisiana and Venice using a Venn Diagram or other graphic organizer.

Tuesday BW- “Tuff Time” journal • Finish the following statements. • The best thing about me is….. • The worst thing about me is…. • Share why you chose those best things and worst things with a partner.
Tuesday’s Objective • I can write to compare Carnival of Louisiana to Venice using important details from different sources of information (book and online resources). • I can use signal words to compare and contrast.
Choice: • Choice A- Partners will create a newscast script Choice B. Partners will write an essay. Following the block or point by point outline to write a compare/contrast essay of carnivals in Louisiana and Venice. • Teacher conferences- • edit writing, so bring your writing folder when you come to see me. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Inside/Outside Circle: Have your compare/contrast cards ready to use for the last 15 minutes of class. Tuesday Homework • Write a brief script including 2 or more characters with the theme that revenge isn’t always the best, as this was the theme of The Cask and The Interlopers.
Wednesday- BW • How is each member of your family, including yourself, unique and different? How do these differences contribute to a stronger family? How does your family influence you?
Wednesday’s Objective • I can compare and contrast revenge and forgiveness. • I can demonstrate knowledge of when to use signal words for compare/contrast. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Choose an activity to participate in from one of the 6 Facets Projects on Revenge and Forgiveness. • Explanation- Write a letter to the to the 7th graders to help them understand the difference between revenge and forgiveness. Which one do you think is more beneficial? Persuade them to follow in your footsteps on this issue. • Discuss- What consequences does revenge have? What are the results of forgiveness? • Perspective- Write 2 paragraphs to compare/contrast revenge and forgivenss. • Reflect- Do you believe revenge is ever a good thing? Do you feel that you usually seek revenge or offer forgiveness? Describe an instance where you sought revenge or gave forgiveness. Looking back, do you feel this was the right decision? Why? • Imagine- How would it feel to help bring peace to 2 friends who were not getting along. • Application- Ulrich and Georg waited to late to become friends. Plan a conversation that you want to have with a friend who betrayed you, but who you want to make mends with. What would you say to them?
Flipcam Videos • Take care of the camera. Be responsible and respectful. • If you would like to create a flipcamvideo of your essay or Newscast, you will need to make yourself cue cards so you know what to say when the camera is on.
