Increase Student Learning at all levels: Quality and Relevance • LMU will collaborate with campus and community constituents to identify new and needed programs for all age and education levels. • Campus Wide: Interdisciplinary Teacher Education Committee and the Undergraduate Curriculum Policies Committee • Community Wide: Center for Professional Collaboration, Off-Campus Site Coordinator and the Center for Appalachian Development Studies (CADS) • Advisory Councils for Teacher Education, CADS and all academic departments will provide valuable information on ways to improve the quality and relevance of existing programs
Smooth Transitions for Learners • LMU will propose a program of dual enrolment for high school students. • Students will be able to earn college credit in courses taught in their high school classrooms. • Student recruiters provide valuable information to school-aged children
Educated Citizenry and a Healthy Economy • LMU will develop a marketing plan that will stress the relationship between education and work opportunities. Research shows that this link is vital to adult student markets
Competent, Caring, and Qualified Teachers for P16 • LMU is developing a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) degree that will provide area teachers with opportunities to further their knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions • Doctoral students will use those skills in conducting action research that will inform their teaching and pursuit of best practices. • The Center for Professional Collaboration (CPC) is actively partnering with area schools to provide workshops on ways present and future educators can achieve best practices
