How to Format TextStep Two • Regular Formatting = Four or less lines of prose • Block Formatting = Four or more lines of prose • Remove quotes • Free standing block of text • New Line, indented one inch • Parenthetical Reference should come after the closing punctuation mark • See OWL for more examples • Periods, semicolons, commas = AFTER the Parenthetical reference • Question marks & Exclamation points in the physical text go INSIDE the quotations. • Quotations go around the stated text.   10. What Else does MLA Entail?Works Cited • First word on the citation must match the parenthetical reference. • Alphabetical • Simple Header = Works Cited, centered. • Hanging Indent • Follows a Specific format.
