  2. Do you know what is “HDTV” ? Maybe you have risen a question mark in your mind. This word maybe strange for you, but you should know it because you will contact it soon .

  3. “HDTV” is High Definition Digital Television. It’s vision is better than analogue, even better than DVD. From 31st December,2007., we can enjoy the “HDTV”. ??HDTV??

  4.  HDTV • Do you know why is the vision of “HDTV” is better than analogue? Because “HDTV” ’ s dots-per-inch is analogue’s 2 times, so it can emerge more details. Analogue 

  5. “HDTV” ’s excellences are : improves reception, better pictureand more channels to choose.  Worse pictures 

  6. But not everyone can enjoy the “HDTV” on the 31st December,2007., only the Kowloon side and Hong Kong Island (East) (the blue scope in the map) can enjoy “HDTV” on that day. The other parts of Hong Kong can enjoy “HDTV” on 2008 – 2011.

  7. We need equipments to enjoy “HDTV”. Among these things, the set-top box is the most important one. However, the set-top box divided into “Basic-tier Receiver” and “Higher-tier Receiver”.

  8. “Basic-tier Receiver” can receive 4 basic HD channels. They are “TVB Jade”, “TVB Pearl”, “aTV Home” and “aTV World”. This receiver cannot receive the new channels.

  9. “Higher-tier Receiver” can receive all the HD channels. These channels are “TVB Jade”, “TVB Pearl”, “TVB Interactive Information Channel”, “TVB J2”, “HD Jade”, “aTV Home”, “aTV World”, “aTV News”, “His TV”, “Her TV”, “Plus TV” and “aTV HD”.

  10. Sometimes, you may see this sign on the set-top box. If you want to receive “HD Jade” clearly and enjoy the TVB function, you must choose the “Higher-tier Receiver” with this sign.

  11. Beside the set-top box, the antenna of your residence is also important. If you use a independent antenna, it can receive the “HDTV”, you do not have to change it.

  12. If you live in a public housing estate, Transport and Housing Bureau will help you to fix the antenna.

  13. If you live in a private housing estate, you can discuss with the management company or the owners' corporation.

  14. The “Plasma TV” do not represent that you can receive the “HDTV”. If you would like to have the best vision, you must have a 1280 x 720p or a 1920 x 1080i television.

  15. In 2012, the government of Hong Kong will stop the analogue and they will overall development and popularize the “HDTV”.
